No he wasn't, but I'm realizing one of my favorite scenes is the Prom scene. If you look at his face when Rob (Edward) comes back to collect Kristen (Bella), his face goes hard as stone. OMG that takes some good acting skills. His eyes are so intense!! Beautiful.
